Pondering the evolutionary destiny of humankind

I ponder what is the evolutionary destiny of humankind. Science has informed us that Homo sapiens evolved from Homo erectus who lived on Earth for about 2 million years, and that Homo sapiens has lived here for about 200,000 years.

Homo sapiens has been industrious in creating tools and methods as well as a planet infrastructure to provide physical and material well-being. Yet we have a high level of inequality, and many people worldwide are suffering from a lack of security and adequate food and shelter.

The answer to what is humankind’s evolutionary destiny has been provided by over 4000 religions and yet the real answer is unknown. However, there is one common theme to many religions and that is that we need to learn to love ourselves and love each other. I suggest that in answering the question on what the destiny of human evolution is, we need to embrace a clear understanding of who we are as physical and spiritual beings and how, with the gift of life, we can learn to evolve and partner to contribute to the well-being of human society and our planet.
